On this split release, Boston musician Glenn Jones shares the spotlight with Virginia backporch players The Black Twig Pickers and old school player Charlie Parr in an ode to sounds from the past and the now. Jones is best known for his work with avant-garde outfit Cul de Sac, but alone is where he burns brightest, tweaking his acoustic six- and 12-string guitars into realms previously inhabited by the likes of Fahey, Basho, Rose and Kottke. Meanwhile, the Twig Pickers and Parr have an old-timey, Wild Turkey-fuelled country blues hoedown, complete with foot stomping, yelps and flying tobacco juice.
