Miscellaneous: RIP Clyde Johnson
Just heard from WPAQ-AM in Mount Airy, N.C., that Clyde Johnson, longtime host of the Merry-go-round program, expert guitarist and member of the Slate Mountain Ramblers, one of the nation's premier old-time bands, passed away after suffering a heart attack. Clyde was a regular emcee at the Mount Airy Fiddlers Convention (among other such events) and his filling-time jokes before the judges' pronouncements early in the Sunday a.m. were a highly anticipated part of the festival. He will be greatly missed.
