Black Twig Pickers: CD release party
Black Twigs are celebrating the release of the new "Hobo Handshake" cd in as much style as we can muster this Saturday, March 8, at the Floyd Country Store. It's part of the store's new Saturday dance series, so one band, three sets, $6 cover, 7:30 p.m. start time. The plan is to have some of the people who sat in for parts of the cd sit in for part of the dance, plus some other guests too. (health permitting -- everybody's been sick lately, seems like)
Expect plenty of fiddle tunes of the fast and not-so-fast varieties, banjo rampages, some double guitar numbers, and plenty of washboard, washtub, fiddlesticks workouts.
(Black Twig Pickers are on WPAQ earlier Saturday, playing the 11 a.m.-noon slot on the venerable Merry-Go-Round program and talking up the new cd as much as seems not-quite-inappropriate. Tune in at 740 AM or wander into the downtown theater in Mount Airy, N.C., where the show takes place live on stage on its instantaneous path to the airwaves.)
