Go, Ralph!

August 3, 2005 | Black Twig Pickers

Black Twigs fiddler Ralph Berrier Jr. is publishing a series of articles this week in The Roanoke (Va.) Times that is perhaps the most informed description of the old-time scene in Southwest Virginia yet written. Check both the articles and accompanying multimedia hoopla (the mix-your-own-bluegrass-song is goofy, but kind of fun, I guess. The photography and especially the various musician portrait/bios are spot on) at http://www.roanoke.com/multimedia/crooked/ Also, Ralph was on Public Radio International's "Whatdya Know?" show recently talking about growing up with old-time music but being more into the Replacements, or something like that. You can find it here: http://www.notmuch.com/Show/ It's the June 18 show. --aldskfj
